Notes 26 Oct

Please find below the insights from the speech give by Abhyasi.

1) There are two types of moralities - Spiritual morality and societal morality

Spiritual  morality is based on truth and dharma. Just as a  directional compass  always points to north, similarly Spiritual person will always tend towards following dharma.

Actions of Spiritual persons are  guided by inner purity. All the positive things done by spiritual persons arises naturally, not from any external rules or force. This is like how flowers blossom effortlessly when the  time is right.

Ramana maharshi used to feed animals which is a natural action and not by any motive to do such actions based on code of conduct laiddown  by society .

Abhyasi Sripriya gave two examples of positive actions which Master observed in his life.

1) Master was travelling and on the way he had food in a hotel along with others. After having food, they boarded the bus to continue the journey. During the journey one person remembered that he had taken extra amount as a change from the hotel .  He immediately got off the bus and travelled back to return the change.

This action was trigerred naturally , guided by the purity of the person.

The person didn't think of how much time/money is lost for this act.

Such acts are rare in the present world.

2) In an another incident, Master was having food at a hotel. A person forcefully took the food which Master was eating.

Generally if such incidents happen, the staff or people around will abuse and ensure that the person is not around that place.

But Master instead of reacting or reprimanding, lovingly offered more food to that person.

Such responses flow from  mental purity.

In societal morality there are rules/regulations/code of conduct. The right and wrong in the society is decided based on whether one follows these rules or not. This varies between cultures and is not common.

Please find below the insights from the discourse given by Master:

1)  In spirituality one has to travel towards purity.

2) Materalistic people will give more attention to the Materialistic needs.

3) Spiritual  people will give less attention to the Materialistic needs. This shows that they are trying to get away from the bondages/bandhana.

4) One should do self introspection and see if they are travelling towards purity or impurity.

5) Astral world is pure world because there is no matter in it. The materalistic world is impure because the mind is attached to the matter and there are thoughts about the materalistic world.

6) If there is purity in human beings, their thinking and working patterns will be different.

7) Ex- Let us say during commuting an auto is standing in the middle of the road. Then one should move aside and continue . But generally people comment that why is the auto  standing in the middle of the road.

8) Negativity in a person triggers to do negative actions. Say if someone slaps , the tendency to slap other comes immediately.

9) Like how negative actions are triggered, positivity in a person triggers positive actions.

10) Positivity will give strength to bear the losses.

11) The dharma says one should not give suffering to others, even when one is suffering.

12) If an ambulance passes by, some people will pray that let the patient in the ambulance recover soon. This is a positive thinking.

13) In olden days, Masters used to test purity of students before admitting them to gurukula. They used to test only for the students who are interested to get Mukti.

14)  Master spoke about tests to know the impurity of persons . They are given below.

a)  Ask a person to mop the floor once. Ask him to mop second time. Again ask him to mop. If there is no irritation in a person how many times ever you tell him to mop, it means that there is surrender and  no impurities in that person.

b) Suppose a Guru asks his disciple to fetch water from a bucket having no bottom. Logically one cannot fetch water from such a bucket. If disciple says there is no point in fetching a water, it means that there is an impurity.  The work can be done whether one can fetch the water or not.

c) Master cited about buddhist Milerapa and said that Milerapa underwent many  tests given by his Guru.

15) The qualities of purity are tolerance,  patience and perseverance.

16) The relationship between student and disciple is because of education. The relationship between sales person and customer is because of the products or services.

Similarly the relationship between a Master and a disciple is because of the purity.

17) Master shared incidents from his life about the Positive behaviour of him

a) Master on his way saw a horse which had met with an accident.  He took it to the hospital foregoing his work. The doctors treated almost till the evening and asked Master to take back the horse. To Master's surprise the owner of the horse came running and thanked Master for getting it treated.

b) Master while commuting in scooter towards Banashankari area used to call upon strangers waiting  in the bus stop to take a ride in his vehicle.

18) One has to analyse how much their behaviour is changing.

Let us say earlier one is not worried about losing Rs 5, Rs 5 or Rs 100.

Now how much ever you lose, if there is no disturbance in the mind, then there is a behaviour change.

19) The purity in a person makes him to do swadharma naturally. In fact one does not even know if he is doing swadharma or not.

20) If one wants to progress materially one must earn money, power, name and fame.

Similarly one should acquire purity if one wants to grow spiritually.

 21) In case you have taken money or articles from someone,  give it back immediately.  In that process, you may suffer also. Try to undergo the suffering.

22) One should say that I will be with the Master even Master tries  to  send  me out.

23)Anything towards Materialistic life is considered as impurity from the angle of Spirituality.

24)The tendencies  in a person makes him to buy House, car, luxuries etc. Similarly the purity in a person makes him to do positive things and will not make him to worry about losses.

25) We should move towards becoming Spiritually  positive.

26) Be in the presence of Master. It is like taking bath in a river. If you are away from Master and remember , it is like taking water in a mug and taking bath.
